Longtime Slashdot reader UnknowingFool writes: Gamer’s Nexus carried out checks on the impact of eradicating legacy 32-bit PhysX on the most recent technology of Nvidia playing cards with older video games, and the outcomes aren’t good. With PhysX on, the newest technology Nvidia was barely overwhelmed by a GTX 580 (launched 2010) on some video games and handily overwhelmed by a GTX 980 (2014) on some video games.
With the launch of the 5000 sequence, NVidia dropped 32-bit CUDA assist going ahead. A part of that change was dropping assist for 32-bit PhysX. Because of this, older titles that used it will carry out poorly with 5000 sequence playing cards as it will default to CPU for calculations. Even the newest CPUs don’t carry out in addition to 15-year-old GPUs in terms of PhysX.
The most effective efficiency on the 5080 was to show PhysX off nonetheless that might take away many results like smoke, breaking glass, and rubble from scenes. The second-best possibility was to pair a 5000 sequence with an older card like a 980 to deal with the PhysX computations.
