Aptoide sues Google over alleged Android App Store monopoly

Aptoide has filed an antitrust lawsuit towards Google over alleged illegal restrictions on competitors within the Android app ecosystem by management of app distribution and in-app billing methods.
As reported by Reuters, the criticism, filed in a federal court docket in San Francisco, argues that Google maintains an “anticompetitive chokehold” over Android distribution. Aptoide stated this prevents rival app shops from scaling regardless of providing decrease commissions and diminished prices for customers. 
The lawsuit seeks an injunction to halt the alleged practices together with unspecified triple damages. Aptoide stated it has pursued regulatory motion earlier than, together with a 2014 criticism to European Union antitrust authorities.

Aptoide had over 436,000 apps in its portfolio as of 2024 and over 200 million annual customers, however claims Google steers builders towards Google Play and limits entry to main titles.
